As part of the 2012 Chelsea Art Walk, Churner and Churner will host a talk with artists Jaime Davidovich and Judith Henry, founders of the poineering art/design hybrid Wooster Enterprises (1976-78). The artists will lead a walk-through of our current exhibtion, discussing the history of the Fluxus-affiliated stationery design studio in the context of Soho in the 1970s.
Under the auspices of Wooster Enterprises, Davidovich and Henry sold their work to Bloomingdale’s, the Plaza Hotel Gift Shop, and novelty stores throughout the country. At the gallery, Wooster items have been arranged in keeping with the retail theme; the complete product line, presented as a single set, and archives are displayed in cases. Many of the original items are available for individual purchase for the first time since the 1970s.
Davidovich and Henry will be signing the exhibition catalogue which features an essay, interviews, and archival material.
